Healthcare Brand and Creative Strategy
Healthcare brand strategy earns trust before a patient ever needs care, so that when a life-changing decision arrives, your organization is already the familiar, trusted answer. We build brand positioning for hospitals and health systems around how people actually make their biggest healthcare decisions: locally, emotionally and usually under stress, not around a new logo or tagline.
We turn that positioning into distinctive creative: campaign concepts, visual direction and advertising adapted to the audience, location and channel. Brand strategy defines what you stand for; creative strategy makes that promise clear and consistent wherever people encounter your organization.
A rebrand is not a brand strategy
A new visual identity is a deliverable. A brand strategy is a decision about what the organization stands for in the mind of the people who will one day need it most, and a plan to prove that positioning consistently across every service line, every campaign and every patient touchpoint for years, not months.
That distinction matters because health system brand work is judged over a much longer horizon than most marketing. A repositioning that is right will still be running a decade later. One that is wrong gets quietly abandoned in eighteen months and the organization is back where it started, having spent the budget and the internal goodwill.
What the work includes
Positioning built on real research
Not internal opinion: how the market currently perceives the organization, how it perceives competitors and where the gap is between reputation and reality.
A brand architecture
That works across service lines, facilities and (where relevant) a multi-hospital or academic system, so a new children's hospital campaign and a new cardiovascular campaign both reinforce the same organization rather than reading as unrelated efforts.
Message platforms per service line
Built by people who have run a service line marketing budget from the inside, not just studied one.
A measurement plan from day one
Unaided awareness, committee and board reporting and campaign-level performance are built into the strategy at the start, not bolted on when someone asks for results.
Creative platforms and campaign development
Translate positioning and message architecture into a recognizable creative platform, with advertising and content adapted to each audience, location and channel.
Proof: a relationship that started in 2005 and still runs
Le Bonheur Children's has worked with mhp.si since 2005. The repositioning built around Le Bonheur's mission helped drive more than $100 million raised in the largest capital campaign in Memphis history, and individual service line campaigns built on that platform saw substantial gains: a 340% increase in heart campaign conversions, a 65% increase in brain tumor campaign clicks and a 40% increase in epilepsy campaign clicks with the click-through rate more than doubling. Separately, Le Bonheur was named a Top Children's Hospital by US News.
A relationship that has run for two decades is itself a form of proof. Brand strategy work does not hold up that long unless the positioning was right the first time and disciplined enough to keep proving itself campaign after campaign.
Brand strategy, brought to life.
Strong positioning gives every campaign a clear purpose. These examples show how we translate brand strategy into creative for different audiences, locations and channels—from Le Bonheur’s hospital campaigns to Arkansas Urology’s men’s health messages and Rock Dental Brands’ practice-specific advertising.

Who does this work
This work is led by people who built and defended service line budgets from inside a health system marketing department, not just consultants who studied one. Our leaders used to have your job. That means the positioning we recommend has already been tested against a real budget committee, a real board and a real internal politics, because we were the ones standing in front of them.
Common questions
How is this different from an ad campaign?
An ad campaign executes against an existing positioning. Brand strategy sets the positioning the campaigns are built on. Without it, every campaign starts from scratch and results are inconsistent year to year.
Can this work for one service line instead of the whole system?
Yes. A service-line engagement can be a starting point and expand as the positioning proves useful over time. A full system rebrand is not required to start.
How do you measure a brand strategy's success?
Unaided awareness, share of voice against competitors and downstream effect on service line volume and, where fundraising is involved, campaign performance. We define the specific measurement plan with the client before work begins, not after.
